The Bear (mother, wealth, security, authority) welcomes you!
Depepi’s question 15 is: Do you use the Tarot and the Lenormand mixed for your readings? Which layouts do you use for this? Do you think it works? Why?
Nope, haven’t tried that yet. Not sure if I want to. Reading systems are so different. Although one could use the Lenormand to clarify something fuzzy in the Tarot, I suppose.
For me, the main connection I’ve used between the two is to apply some of the Lenormand’s linguistic and down-to-earth method to independent Tarot readings. I think the Lenormand method has improved my Tarot readings, which were more vague and geared toward a person’s inner life and motivation, which doesn’t nearly cover all the kinds of questions people come up with. My original Tarot approach was maybe OK for readings for me, but not for other folks. The Lenormand is sort of…neutral. Doesn’t care what your current Jungian archetype is nor much about your spiritual journey to wholeness, although if you asked a question specifically about that, the cards could speak to it. Specificity is really important, and I like that the Lenormand speaks to the stories of our everyday lives, giving us a “heads-up” about the energies and events that may intersect with us.
In parting, I’d like to strongly recommend Donnaleigh’s most recent video on Lenormand, about the syntax and semantics of reading with these cards. She (with due credit to Stella Waldvogel for her inspiration) does a great job with three- and four-card combinations to help us see the linguistic patterns that create a reading. It’s only about 15 minutes long and is well worth your time. Check it out here.
If you use your Tarot and Lenormand cards together, I’d love to hear how you use them. 🙂
